Take some light sabers, add a generous dollop of rhythmic drumming, sprinkle (salt bae style) some fat beats and what do you get? Beat Saber.
The premise of the game is simple, but likely addictive as sin. You’re essentially a drummer, banging away with two ‘light sabers’, slicing and dicing your away along some expertly crafted tracks. Think Fruit Ninja meets Rock Band.
I’m a huge fan of the rhythmic music games like Guitar Hero and with the advent of VR, games like Audioshield have really raised the bar. The fact that this game has light sabers puts it in a new league.
Beat Saber is made by Hyperbolic Magnetism, a Czech studio that created Chameleon Run. The game has already done the rounds at gaming conventions and is launching imminently, in Q1 this year. In addition to the game, they’ll also be releasing the OST, which is what you’ll slice and dice your way through.
I’ll be keeping an eye out for this, as it looks amazing. Don’t believe me? Watch the video below and wait for that drop.
TLDR; Time to strap on your VR headset and… just beat it.
